Dharmesh Jani (“DJ”)

UCIe Director

Dharmesh Jani (“DJ”) has over 25+ years of experience in various roles spanning engineering, product management and business strategy. DJ is passionate about open technologies for data center infrastructure and tying them to sustainability.

In his current role at Meta, he is responsible for leading ecosystem development and open technologies, working with stakeholders outside and inside Infra team. He is also co-chair of Open Compute Project (OCP) Incubation Committee driving the vision for OCP community working with others. He was instrumental in launching sustainability initiative within OCP in 2021. Prior to joining Meta, DJ founded CloudLabs team at Flex and led the cloud transformation for the biggest business unit, building it to over $500M annual run rate in 4 years.


He started his career at Rockwell Science Center designing ultra-high speed circuits that became part of Mar Orbiter Laser Altimeter (MOLA) system, subsequently as a system designer he designed world’s first terrestrial FEC based long haul optical transmission system. At Infinera, he developed and delivered optical system built around first photonic integrated circuit in the industry. As a product manager at Intel he worked to introduce 10G transponders, tunable laser products. He also built a business introducing world’s first coherent 100G MUX for ultra-long-haul transport systems.

He has B. Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT-Bombay, MSEE from UCLA and MBA from Haas School of Business at UC-Berkeley.


He is based out of Menlo Park, CA. In his spare time he loves trail running, squash, speed chess and building connections with diverse people to learn from.
